Model, Momita Singha won Best National Costume award at the recently concluded Rubaru Miss India Elite competition. The event took place on August 29, 2021, in New Delhi. Along with winning the said national beauty pageant, Momita won two special awards – Miss Fashion Icon and Best National Costume. She became the only candidate to score a hat-trick at the event. She won three titles – Miss Supermodel Worldwide India 2021, Miss Fashion Icon 2021 and Best National Costume 2021.
At the pageant, each candidate was asked to come up with a costume that could display the culture of any region of the Indian nation. On September 7, 2021, the Rubaru Miss India Elite organization officially announced Momita as the winner of the national costume segment of the pageant, after reviewing all the submitted entries. For this segment, Momita chose the Goddess Radha’s costume from Raasleela. Rasleela is a Manipuri dance-drama in which Lord Krishna’s life events are depicted. The said dance form embodies delicate gestures and graceful movements in accordance to the lyrical components of the act. Individuals who participate in this act take up different roles and play their parts. Momita portrayed Goddess Radha’s costume from the said dance-drama. This event is celebrated on every Full-moon night in Manipuri culture.
