While speaking about this remarkable feat, the founder and director of Iglam academy, Ddevjani Mitra quoted, “I feel so proud and honored to see my Iglam alumnae achieving such great heights and their hard work is getting recognized and appreciated. Iglam is not just a beauty pageant training academy; it is much more than that. It is an organization where empowered women from all walks of life come together and work collectively for various social causes. When I started Iglam academy, it was my main motive to cement it as a platform that can help individuals bring about a positive change in the society. Gone are the days when beauty pageants were considered to be merely a source of entertainment. Nowadays, beauty pageants have become platforms for talented and confident individuals to show the world their potential, to inspire others to come forward and work collectively for the betterment of the society. When I see my protégés walking the path that I envisaged while creating Iglam, I become even happier. It is so overwhelming, I can only say thank you to all these lovely ladies who made us all so proud.”
Ddevjani Mitra is an entrepreneur, social activist and event planner. She resides in Kolkata, and leads the Iglam academy. Earlier this year, her protégé, Tanmay Das was elected Rubaru Mr. East India at the Rubaru Mr. India 2020-21 championship held in Goa.
