Tseteej Shiwakoty from Gangtok won Mr. Sikkim 2019 Kanchenjunga title at the annual Mr. Sikkim Manhunt contest held last year. Along with winning this prestigious title, he also won direct entry to the final show of India’s biggest men’s pageant – Rubaru Mr. India, scheduled to take place in coming months. After getting elected the most handsome man in Sikkim, Tseteej became an instant sensation. He got attention for his very charismatic looks and very charming face. In this exclusive interview, he talks about his life and how he feels about competing at Rubaru Mr. India contest.
Q. Many congratulations to you on winning Mr. Sikkim 2019 title and getting direct entry to the finals of the upcoming edition of Rubaru Mr. India contest. How do you feel about it?
Tseteej: Thank you so much. I feel so blessed and honoured that I won the title and got direct entry to the Rubaru Mr. India. I would like to thank each and every person who supported me in this journey and would request them to please keep supporting me. It is your support that boosts my confidence and motivates me to move ahead. Both Mr. Sikkim Manhunt and Rubaru Mr. India are such great platforms and I am happy that I got the opportunity to be part of both these events.
Q. Tell us something about your hobbies and areas of interest.
Tseteej: I love to read books and surf the Internet. It helps me stay updated with the current events, new inventions and the things that are trending in the world. Other than that I love to play basketball and explore new places.
Q. Describe yourself in three words.
Tseteej: Adventurous, dedicated and experimental.
Q. In your opinion, what is the best way to deal with criticism?
Tseteej: In my opinion, the best way to deal with criticism is focusing on the positive side of it and learning from it. Criticism is like a book; it will surely teach you something new. All you got to do is confront it with confidence and positive attitude.
Q. When you look back in time, what do you believe has been your greatest lesson?
Tseteej: Everything that I have learnt in my life holds equal importance to me. If I would have missed out of any of the lessons and experiences that I have come across, then I would not be at the place where I am today. All these things helped me grow and shaped me in to the person I am today.

Rubaru Mr. India is India’s biggest and most prestigious national level pageant for men. The pageant is owned by Rubaru Group. The winners / top placers of the pageant represent India at some of the biggest and most well-established international pageants across the globe. The Rubaru Mr. India pageant was created in the year 2004 and has been happening annually ever since its inception, making it the oldest existing annual male pageant in India. Since the pageant’s inception in the year 2004, the pageant has sent India’s representatives to more than 15 different international pageants and modelling competitions for men.
