As expected by many, crowd-favourite candidate, Paweensuda Drouin won the 2019 Miss Universe Thailand competition concluded on July 29, 2019 at the Thunder Dome, Muang Thong Thani in the Kingdom of Thailand. She was awarded and crowned by the reigning Miss Universe 2018, Catriona Gray from the Philippines and the outgoing titleholder, Miss Universe Thailand 2018, Sophida Kanchanarin at the coronation gala of the pageant. Paweensuda Drouin will now represent Thailand at the biggest and most prestigious international beauty pageant in the world, the Miss Universe pageant to take place later this year.
Paweensuda belongs to the capital of Thailand, Bangkok. She is 25 years old and stands 5 ft and 11 inches tall. She is a proud alumna of the University of Calgary, Canada and is a model by profession. She won the Miss Universe Thailand crown in her second attempt. She competed at the very same pageant in the year 2017 and was declared second runner up at the conclusion of the event.
Along with the election of the new Miss Universe Thailand this year, the evening also witnessed felicitation of two runners up. They were Miriam Sornprommas from Chiang Mai who won the first runner up title and Thanatchaphon Boonsang from Roi Et won the second runner up award. The coronation night was hosted by Piyawat Kempetch and Charm Osathanond. Paweensuda bested 49 other candidates competing for the coveted crown and was proclaimed the event’s winner.
Miss Universe Thailand is Thailand’s biggest and most respected national beauty pageant. The pageant was created in the year 2000 to elect Thailand’s representatives to the renowned Miss Universe competition. The Miss Universe Thailand pageant is famous for its very high and lavish production value and for putting up an extravagant show. It is also regarded as one of the biggest and most anticipated national beauty pageants in the world. Over the years, Thailand has been doing quite well at the Miss Universe pageant. Thailand has been placing in the finals or semi-finals of the Miss Universe pageant for last 4 consecutive years.
Thailand has won the Miss Universe competition twice. First time in the year 1965 when Thai model Apasra Hongsakula entered the competition and the second Miss Universe crown for Thailand was won by Bui Simon, when she joined the biggest beauty extravaganza in the world in the year 1988. This year, Paweensuda is also one of the heavy favourite delegates to win the glorious crown of Miss Universe 2019. May be it is the time for Thailand to have their third Miss Universe crown with the very lovely Paweensuda entering the competition expected to happen in coming months.
